We’d like to extend a warm welcome to John Carlson—SAIT’s new Associate Vice President (AVP), Energy and our new boss.
John Carlson has traded his two-year post as Academic Chair of the Bachelor of Applied Petroleum Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering Technology and Rig Technician apprenticeship programs at SAIT for the big picture AVP position.
Before joining SAIT in 2008, Carlson’s 30-year career on the public and private side of the energy industry included 15 years traveling the globe to deliver corporate training.
John’s professed strengths are in relationships. “It’s important to me that people on the team be passionate about their work, and that they have balance in what they do. I strive to lead by example in a collaborative sense. I’ll be focusing on getting to know and utilize the strengths of everyone on the team,” he says.
