Instructional Design and Development

This course will address topics to provide you with an understanding of competencies and skill profiling within instructional planning, and how to integrate them into instructional design. Needs assessment techniques, and various approaches to assessing and analyzing training requirements at the organizational, departmental and individual levels will be presented. You will learn how to develop rationales, learning outcomes, learning objectives, and learning material as well as appropriate and meaningful exercises to maximize retention and ensure applicability once the course is completed. The course content will address writing for both technical and non-technical programming and participants will have the opportunity apply their knowledge and learn to revisit the course material and evaluate for continuous improvement.

There is no prerequisite for this course. This course is one of three required courses for the Train-the-Trainer Certificate of Participation. This course can be used as an elective towards SAIT's Applied Management Certificate or Applied Project Management Certificate.
