This course provides an introduction to non-thermal conventional heavy oil on-site recovery techniques. Topics include: Alberta geological formations where heavy oil is located as well as the trapping mechanism; cold production is analyzed in terms of pumps, sand production and wormholes; pipelines and facilities; waterflooding techniques and methods; enhanced oil recovery (EOR); upgrading and marketing of heavy oil in terms of Canadian and International operations. |
